Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Well, this is a complete shock ... but such an honor nonetheless!  I was contacted yestereday by Dawn from the Inspirational Blog and asked if I would give them permission to feature some of my recent shabby little design work on their blog!  Would I ... for sure!!!

For those of you have never had the pleasure of perusing the Inspirational Blog, they have a team of bloggity gals whose job it is to peek at blogs (sounds like a FUN job to me!!!) and when they find a designer whose work catches their eye, they feature that designer and some of her work on the blog!  How cool is that?

There are designers featured on this blog from all around the world!  I am among very talented company and am humbled and honored to be a Featured Designer - WOW!!!

I thank God for the blessings he gives me each and every day with my paper crafting and designing!  I simply love what I do ... am so proud and honored to be sitting on several current Design Team positions ... love to share my passion for all things paper and glue with my bloggity friends ... love to inspire and be inspired by others in the field ... I am happiest when I am creating in my design studio ... I didn't realize how much I missed my creative outlet until I stepped away from it for nearly 5 years to pursue other business ventures ... I'm so glad that I've come 'back home' to where my happy place is!!!

A huge thank you to the gals over at Inspirational for noticing my work and giving me this pat on the back!  It means the world to me.  I am in awe!

Happy stamping :)

Sneak Peek Catty Party!

Each year I host a Sneak Peek Catty Party for the gals that stamp together with me in monthly clubs!  It's so much fun to see everyone's excitement and joy when they get that brand new Idea Book and Catalog in their hands and flip through the pages giggling with delight as they see the new products Stampin' Up! has to offer for the new year!

This year's night of fun will be this Friday at my house and we'll be making two really cute make and takes using some of the new stamps, papers and accessories!  Yummy food provided by Tastefully Simple -- fun for all :)

I will also be hosting a stamp and supply sale Friday evening ... a table full of left over goodies from last Saturday's Trunk Sale!  Great prices ... everything MUST GO!!!

To show my appreciation to my club girlies, I always put together a little packet of goodies for them each year when the new catty rolls out ... this year is no exception!  I stamp with some of the most fun and creative girls around!

I haven't completely finalized this year's goodie packet, but it's almost complete!  Lots of goodness here for my valued stamping friends including a gift certificate for money off their first order out of the new catty, coupons, catty tabs, page markers, wish list, DSP decorated pen, large scallop circle punches of new in-colors and a notebook for recording ideas, website links and tips :)

I can't wait until Friday ... we are going to have so much fun!!!

Stamper's Spouse ...

I found this on Taylor's Taylored Expressions blog this morning and laughed until I cried!  It's all so true and I just had to share this sage advice with all my peeps too ... enjoy!

Life as a Stamper's Spouse!

My wife is a stamper. By stamper, I mean a paper-crafting, blog-hopping, creativity-oozing stamper. She’s not a crafter and she’s definitely not a scrapbooker. She’s a stamper.

Perhaps you’re also an involuntary member of this unique and growing collection of people I like to simply call Spouses of Stampers… or SSs.

By having been an SS for the past few years I’ve learned a thing or two about the stamping sub-culture. And even though I’m armed with this knowledge, the various quirks and expectations of stampers are still hard to manage at times. Perhaps you’re an SS and you think you’re the only one experiencing these things. Know that you’re not alone! We’re in this together! And so, for all of the SSs out there, I submit to you the top 10 things I’ve learned as an SS:

#10 – Delete “scrapbooker” from your vocabulary and then empty your recycle bin. Remember...she's a stamper!

#9 - The outside of a greeting card is one hundred times more meaningful to a recipient than the words written on the inside. Or at least the outside of the card takes one hundred times longer to complete.

#8 - Organza and Grosgrain have nothing to do with anything organic or wheat-based. They’re ribbons.

#7 - When your wife says “I just want to change one thing about this card,” you better cancel your dinner reservations because you’re not going anywhere for a very long time.

#6 - What looks like the aftermath of a tornado is really just a uniquely organized stamp room.

#5 – Never, ever, ever say “Don’t you already have paper like that?” Trust me. It’s not the same paper.

#4 - Redeeming the weekly 40% off coupon at Michaels trumps having milk in the refrigerator and clean socks to wear. Seriously, are your personal health and hygiene that important? I didn’t think so.

#3 - The primary purpose of making cards is not to send them to others. It's to create space for that new die-cut machine.

#2 - Much like the sun, you can’t turn off your wife’s creativity. As an SS, just give in already and prepare for many more dinner conversations about the latest blog-hop or stamp-a-thon.

#1 - Memorize this: “Wow honey! That’s really cute!!!” It’s pure gold if you can muster the enthusiasm to go with it. Use it often as you can, especially when you’re in a jam. You won’t be disappointed.

Linda S ... for The Shabby Tea Room!

A sweet Shabby Tea Room friend made this cutie pie card, but does not have a blog, so I offered to post this for her.  Her name is Linda Slattery and she found us in the Tea Room through Debbie Olson's blog!  Welcome Linda and thanks so much for sharing your design with us this week in the Tea Room :)

Paper Tempress Extra #3 ...

And here you go ... here is my extra #3 DT submission for the PIO #25 challenge in conjunction with our wonderful sponsor - The Paper Temptress!

For this design ... the creative cardstock technique was embossing with polka dots -- lots of them!  I used LAGOON, KIWI, PUNCH and PINK ICE cardstocks from The Paper Temptress along with some gorgeous pink & white gingham ribbon -- just pull the strings and it self-ruffles into a yummy bow -- LOVE IT!

The 'recyled' items on this card are a new *old* stamp set from that stamp trunk sale I attend last weekend {giggle!} and old jewelry findings from my jewelry making days!

Challenges for this card:

Pile It On! #25 - creative use of cardstock
The Shabby Tea Room #16 - hot pink, turquoise and bright green
The Creative Cottage #16 - pearls & swirls (my swirls are all the embossed dots)
Stampin' Royalty #25 - taken with teal, lavendar lace, pink passion, black
Caardvarks - stamping & embossing
City Crafter Challenge Blog #10 - pink, purple & pearls
The Pink Elephant #72 - pink & black
Cute Card Thursday #118 - something recycled
Crafty Creations #73 - shine & bling

Paper Temptress Extra #2 ...

Here is my #2 extra DT submission for the Paper Temptress sponsorship this week at Pile It On! #25!!

I simply love it ... I used a 'brand new' stamp set that I just purchaed from my friend, Suzi, at a stamp trunk sale I was in this past Saturday.  It's so soft and vintage looking - just beautiful!!  It kinda defeats the purpose of participating in a sale to sell old stamp sets and supplies ... when I just turned around and spent my earnings on new *old* stamps & supplies {giggle}!  Oh well, they are new to me and I got them at a fraction of the original price - so I felt good about that!

For this little beauty, I used The Paper Temptress LAGOON and WHITESTONE cardstocks - they are both scrumptious!  The Lagoon is a gorgeous shimmer paper - yummy!  The Whitestone is a delicious vintage type cardstock ever so slightly speckled tone on tone.  The six paper flowers at the bottom of the design are all handmade spiral flowers using the Lagoon cardstock with rhinestones in the centers!

Challenges for this card:

Pile It On! #25 - cardstock in a creative way
Sweet Sunday #75 - sketch
Fussy & Fancy #13 - monochromatic with wings
Cute Card Thursday #118 - something recycled (the old *new* stamp set!)
Paper Sundaes #24 - birthday
Simon Says Stamp - friends
Crafty Creations #73 - shine & bling

Paper Temptress Extra #1 ...

Remember I mentioned on Sunday that our awesome sponsor at the Pile It On! Challenge Blog this week is The Paper Temptress and Patricia was kind enough to supply all the PIO! DT girles with a generous package of assorted cardstock, patterned papers and scrumptious ribbons.  All she asked in return was for the DT gals to create 3 additional cards besides our regular weekly challenge card to showcase her yummy products.  What ... ask me to make more cards ... check, check!!!  I love to paper craft and especially to make cards!

The cardstock I used from PT on this design is LASER SILVER LUSTRE and CRANBERRY ICE.  Additional patterend papers from K & Co and Making Memories.

Isn't this card so sweet?!  Such a precious vintage image of a beautiful little girl.  I framed her sweet image with some Pink Paislee alterable frames -- they are new and so cool ... you can alter them as you wish and I spritzed mine with Tattered Rose Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.  The pearls and swirls are from Prima, butterfly with rhinestones is from Jenni Bowlin and that sweet little crocheted flower with the pearl center is actually lavendar.  This sweet image and frame cried out to be glittered ... so I indulged and dunked it in my treasured bucket that sits atop my craft desk!!

Isn't that organza ribbon to die for?  The stripes match the stripes in the PT patterned paper - so shimmery, soft and pretty!  It's really neat ribbon ... comes on a spool, flat with strings that you just pull and it creates the most beautiful 3-D flowers and fleurettes - yum!

Challenges for this sweet design:

Pile It On! #25 - use cardstock in a creative way
Our Creative Corner #21 - sketch
Simon Says Stamp - friends
Paper Sundaes #24 - birthday
The Creative Cottage #16 - pearls & swirls
Cute Card Thursday #118 - something recycled (vintage photo)
Crafty Creations #73 - shine & bling
City Crafter Challenge Blog #10 - pink, purple & pearls
Fussy & Fancy #13 - monochromatic & wings
The Pink Elephant #72 - pink & black
Really Reasonable Ribbons #2 - ribbon as border (black satin ribbon and ribbon flower embellie)

Picture Perfect Creations #19!

Another Monday and another fun color challenge over at the Picture Perfect Creations Challenge Blog!

Such a yummy combination that will no doubt inspire you to create something using these colors too!

Lots of  yumminess here!  I'm so glad Riding Hood Red is coming back - one of my favs!  The *new* Daffodil Delight is so pretty IRL!  I used some old DSP's from the Bella Rose line and a Simply Stampin' kit.  The roses were made with a Big Shot die - aren't they just beautiful?  I love dimension on my card designs -- gives them such appeal and so many pretty things to look at!

Speaking of pretty things ... take a peek at that pretty little trinket pin embellishment!  Our sponsor this week at PPC is Pretty Pin Embellishments.  Aren't those pearls and beads so 'pretty'??!!  I used a large half pearl in the cent of my stamped and cut out flower to pick up the pearls from the trinket pin.

Now your turn ... hop on over to the PPC Challenge Blog to be inspired by the other DT gals' creations this week and then give this fun color combo a try!  I look forward to seeing your wonderful work :)

The Shabby Tea Room #16!

This week we have a totally fun and summery challenge for you all in the Tea Room!  When I think of summer, I think of bright, cheery, fun colors (like ice cream or the rainbow!) and lots of fun activities!  Our Week #16 challenge was inspired by this wonderful photo ...

Isn't it just FABULOUS?!?!  The bright colors just jump right off the page at you ... and ohhhh, those paper pinwheels are yummy!  Our challenge this week is called 'Popsicles and Pinwheels' and I am the lucky host!  We are to create a card or project inspired by this scumptious photo and use hot pink, bright green and turquoise in our designs this week.  How much fun is that???

Here is my creation:

I used lots of 'fun' embellishments in my design including 'Strawberry Shortcake' Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my Etsy Shop, a lime green button from a bag-o-buttons I got from an antique show, sparkly rhinestones from Doodlebug, handmade ledger paper roses, fun die cut ric rac paper embellies cut with dies from My Favorite Things and a handmade trinket pin made with bobbles from my stash of jewelry making supplies from years back!  The paper is Delovely from Cosmo Cricket and just called out to me from my supply closet to be used on this challenge ... perfect, don't you think?  Isn't this PI girlie with her lollipop just  the sweetest thing!

Please visit the other talented designers blogs for some more delicious inspiration:

Meljen's Top Five Winner!

WOW ... my sweet 'Amour' card received another lovely award today at the Meljen's Designs Challenge Blog!   Thanks girls :)

Truly Scrumptious ...

I  know 'scumptious' is a word I use a lot when describing my sweetie pie cards here on my bloggity-blog ... along with yummy, delicious and sweet too!  When I found the Truly Scrumptious blog a couple weeks ago, I immediately fell in love!  I enjoy making my cards 'truly scrumptious' and love to inspire my fellow paper crafters as well!  I've had so much fun participating in a couple of the sketch challenges over at TS!!
Unfortunately, one of my current DT spots will be ending at the end of July and another at the end of August.  But, the good news is that means I will have more time to devote to more paper crafting and inspiration :)

The gals at Truly Scrumptious are running an open DT Call right now.  I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring since I sincerely do love to make cards that are piled high with lots of yummy, scrumptious embellies and gorgeous details!  The DT gals have asked us to share a couple of our most favorite designs ... oh my, so hard to choose only two!!

Here are a couple recent things that I made that I am over the moon about ... I hope you all enjoy peeking at them again too:

This 'Amour' card is one of the Top Five Winners over at Cupcake Inspirations this week and also a Top Five Award at Meljen's Designs this week too! So much loveliness in it's monochromatic teal and white color scheme!

This is a baby set I made for my friend Anne. I actually helped host a baby shower for her just today, so I had the pleasure of giving her these treasured creations! I simply {heart} the way the baby buggy, card and book mark all turned out ... I used one of my favorite CS colors - blush blossom!!  This set was the Winner over at Stampin' Royalty the week I entered it!

And this sweet Victorian hat on a stand was created this week directly from inspiration from my stampy friend, Tracy Clark ... who lives in Australia and submitted a similar project last week at The Shabby Tea Room!!!
So what do you think??? Are these cutie pie creations Truly Scrumptious 'enough' to make the cut???

Hop on over to this fun challenge blog to be inspired by the other DT gals' work - such pretty eye candy to look at!!!

Wow ... my little Baby Bee card that I made for my friend, Anne, who had her first little baby last Monday won a top three honor over at Stamptacular Sunday Today!!!  That is so fun ... thanks Priscilla :)

This week at the Pile It On! Challenge Blog we are being asked to make something 'creative' for Week #25 with cardstock!  You can fold it, tear it, color it, bake it ... do anything -- the sky's the limit!

I made this absolutely scrumptious Victorian hat on a hat stand!  The hat stand is actually 'the card' ... it opens and you can write your message inside!  I was inspired by the Week #14 Winner, Tracy Clark, from The Shabby Tea Room's challenge last week - 'Summer Fun'.

Tons of deliciousness on this design including flowers from Prima, handmade trinket pins made with items from my stash and 'Pink Bubblegum' Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my Etsy Shop!

This week's sponsor at PIO! is The Paper Temptress!  Patricia, the owner of Paper Temptress, supplied all the Design Team Members with a generous pack of assorted cardstock in a variety of colors, textures and patterns and some fabulous ribbons too!  We were asked to create three separate designs besides our weekly DT submission, so please check my additional posts to see some more inspiration using these fabulous products!  For this project, I used CAPPUCINO, PINK ICE and MONTEREY SAND cardstock.

Shabby Vintage Yo-Yo Tags ...

New in my Etsy Shop today ... Shabby Vintage Yo-Yo Tags!  I'm feeling a bit 'burnt out' yesterday and today, so I needed a break from card making.  I can never completely step away from my love of crafting and creating, so I gathered up a bunch of yummies from my stash baskets last night and started pulling things together until I was happy with the end result.

Announcing ... Deb's Shabby Vintage Yo-Yo Tags!  These are AUTHENTIC antique yo-yo's handmade with love by {someone's} grandma!  I found them recently on a day-long antiquing trip and scored a whole bag of them!  I've been having fun adding them to my cards, but wanted to create a way to share them with my stampy friends too (I have a LOT of them!).

So, here is what I came up with ... each 'tag' is created with love by being antiqued around the edges and distressed.  Then I sewed on some vintage looking cotton material I had already cut into fat quarters from my quilting days (I had made the most beautiful twin bed sized quilt out of these fabrics!).  The top of each tag is tied with some Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my shop!

Then I took two of the antique yo-yo's and attached buttons, flowers, lace and trims to them on the front and a colored paper clip on the back.  They can easily be attached to a card front, package, tag ... or even be used as a fasion design element/hair clip.  So many cute ideas for these sweet little yo-yo's!

Next, I layered some felt pieces to create a felted flower, brad in the center and pinned that onto the card with a sewing pin.  The final little shabby element I added is an adorable vintage metal ringed tag - shabby and yummy!

Each Shabby Vintage Yo-Yo Tag is unique ... no two are alike.  Inventory of what you get on each tag:

  • 1 - Shabby parcel tag altered with fabric and seam binding

  • 1 - Felt flower with sewing pin

  • 1 - Metal vintage round tag

  • 2 - Antique yo-yo's altered with buttons, flowers, lace and a clip
I currently have 7 tags made up and will list in my Etsy Shop in a bit.  More should be coming soon as my schedule allows.  They are super cute and you get so many adorable, shabby elements to play with on each tag!

Enjoy :)

My favorite flower in the whole wide world is the hydrangia!  I have 20 hydrangia bushes planted around my yard in lovely shades of blue, purple, lavendar and pink!  Now if I only could get the deer not to eat them .. then life would be perfect {giggle}!  Half of my back yard backs up to a golf course and the other half backs up to the woods, so they come on in each night for a snack and graze through my yard.  If it wasn't so frustrating, it'd be pretty hysterical.  At any given time each evening I could have 1 - 10 deer chomping away in my yard :)  I'm so glad they enjoy all those expensive shrubs I've planted in my yard!!

Picture Perfect Creations #18!

Here is our color combo for the Week #18 challenge over at Picture Perfect Creations ... so rich and fun!  I decided to go 'whimsical' with this design as opposed to my 'usual' vintage and shabby style!

The cute little present in the right corner was made with one of the elements from the new Playful Pieces host stamp set from the brand new SU! catty to be released July 1st!  I also made the cute banner using another element from this set - so adorable!

The strip of DSP is some old Hawaii Papaya from last year - love it so much and glad I can use it again!  The DSP, package stamp and background are all tied together with polka dots ... then I added some more with green rhinestones to give this card some bling factor :)

Now your turn ... hop on over to the PPC Challenge Blog to be inspired by the other design team gals' work this week and give this fun color scheme a try!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!
