The Shabby Tea Room #42!

Good morning everyone and welcome to the 42nd challenge at The Shabby Tea Room!!  This week brings Melissa as our lovely host and she has challenged us to use this absolutely gorgeous picture for inspiration ...

.... along with a theme of 'Shabby Chic Baby' and asks us to use FABRIC on our project!!  Here is the card I created:

Our sponor in the Tea Room this week is Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and she provided the DT girls some lovely images.  I chose to work with Rocky Da Rocking Horse and printed him in a miniature size on shabby pink patterned paper, cut him out, glittered him and then added him to the nosegay embellishment!

Lots of loveliness here today ... heart vintage lace trim, tiny baby pom-pom trim, gorgeous vintage fabrics from Stampin' Up!, twine, glittered leaves, pearl flourishes, patterned papers, die cuts, inking and stamping!

A good friend of mine christened her daughter over the holidays and I have a sweet little baby gift to give to her to help celebrate this special occasion ... aren't those shoes precious!!  I have a matching little top and lace skirt too :)  Sooooooo fun to buy for little girls!!!

Please be sure to hop on over to the Tea Room to be inspired by the Shabby Girls' projects this week and do take a couple minutes to visit their individual blogs for lots more pretties ...

Thanks for peeking :)

I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas ...

Well, I could hardly believe my eyes when it started to SNOW right here in the heart of NC Christmas evening around 8 pm ... I've lived in NC for almost 15 years and we've never had snow in December nor for Christmas -- the last time they had a white Christmas was 1947!!!

We got up this morning, put our woolies on and then my hubby and I joined our youngest son for a walk down to the golf clubhouse where he works.  It's about a 1/2 mile walk from our house.  The head pro called him to say that he didn't have to work today (no kidding!!) and that he would not be able to make the drive in (normally a 45 minute commute) to check the clubhouse to be sure no pipes had burst overnight, etc.  He asked my son, even though the shop would be closed for today, to go down anyways, open up and check things out just so he could have peace of mind that all was okay on the homefront in his absence.

What a lovely walk the 3 of us had ... so peaceful, so quiet, so beautiful!!

We have LOTS of left overs from the past 2 days of cooking and eating, so we are hunkering down, watching football and staying warm and cozy!

And here's one more at twilight after my sons built the snowman ... see him on the far left!!

I hope you are enjoying a relaxing day after Christmas with everyone that you love too :)

Fussy and Fancy #26!

Hello everyone and welcome to the 26th challenge at the Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenge Blog!  This week our challenge is called 'SNOW' and I've created an adorable 3-D snowman and mitten gift set ...

I made an 'army' of these cutie patooties ... gave them away to the girls I stamp with each month, the girls I teach card classes to each month, the girls I play bunco with each month, my neices and nephews and anyone who visited my home during the holidays :)

They were easy peesy to assemble ... the candy wrapper is a template I found on-line wrapped around a Hershey chocolate bar.

The mittens are a Sizzix die.  I inked the edges of the mittens with winter white paint, tied some Old Olive grosgrain ribbon around the cuff and added some gold elastic cording, a tiny gold jingle bell and handmade chenille candy canes!

I sewed the tiny hats from plaid fleece, tied the top of the hat with twine and added a gold jingle bell.  I cut the top of the hat to create the fringe and then added a narrow piece of fleece for his scarf!!!

Here is how my table looked for the day I hosted bunco for the girls ... each attendee found a sweet little snowman and mitten on their plate as they sat to dine!  I LOVE to give handmade from the heart gifts to my family and friends all year long ...

... but especially at Christmas time!

This is my final Design Team post as a Fussy and Fancy Girl ... my how the past six months have flown by!

Thanks to Juanita and all the girls on the team for such a wonderful and fun experience!  Please hop on over to see what the other girlies have created for your 'SNOW'  inspiration :)

HTC Christmas Party 2010!

Yesterday was such a fun day here at my house ... it was my hubby's holiday work party so I got to spend the day doing nothing but primping for my 'big date'!  A couple of my friends asked to see pics, so I'm sharing a couple of them with you all here!

I began the day at the salon and had my hair and nails done!

Boy oh boy ... do I wish I could do that to my hair myself!  It's the first time I ever had a professional up-do and I think it came out AWESOME!  My stylist even put six pretty little bling-y clips all around to add some sparkle and then finished it off with a sprinkle of hair glitter - yum :)

I almost lost my breath when I found these fabby shoes and matching purse (at different stores)!  They both are a deep wine satin IRL and the shoes have those beautiful satin and organza wine and black bows - oh my!  The bling on the purse matched the bling in my hair!!

Believe it or not ... the dress is old.  I think I've had it for 2 years -- originally purchased for a cruise to the Bahamas that I earned through my Tastefully Simple business a couple years ago.  It was perfect for this Christmas party which was 'fancy dress attire'.

The hubby did get him a whole new outfit ... since he's the boss, he needs to look the part!  We found him a gorgeous black suit that almost looked like a tux, new black shoes, wine dress shirt with a crisp white collar and a beautiful black satin tie with gold dots.  We even found the most adorable (not a word my husband would use to describe them!) cuff links with racing flags on them -- my hubby is a car fanatic and owns a 2008 black Corvette!

The party was held at Wakefield Plantation TPC (Tournament Players Championship) Golf Clubhouse in Wake Forest, NC.  They had the yummiest appetizers for the first hour and a full open bar!  We were then seated and the COO of the company did a champagne toast.  He began by personally thanking my husband for all the hard work and countless hours, including traveling across the world on so many business trips that I lost count, week after week!  He had him stand and everyone gave him a round of applause.  I couldn't have been any prouder of him than at that particular moment ... recognition for a job well done is always so appreciated!

They gave away a couple of door prizes each hour and my hubby won the first one ... a $100 VISA card!  His executive assistant who brought it over to our table handed it to ME and said it was something special just for ME ... she knew how to play right into my addiction for shopping -- or maybe my husband had told her????

We were then treated to the most delicious dinner and desserts ... prime rib, smoked ham, mashed and sweet potatoes, beans, carrots, asparagus, fruit, salad, raviolies, garlic bread, two different kinds of soup!  Cheesecake and pies for dessert ... but I was too stuffed to have any!

We don't get a chance to go out all fancy like this very often ... we're lucky if it's a once a year type of thing, so yesterday was just too fun!  And yes, I slept on my side and tried not to move all night to not mess up my fancy hair do!  We're having a Christmas dinner with friends tonight and I wanted to 'save' my hair for one more day!  Crazy ... I know :)

And, I'm happy to report that my husband surpised me with tickets to see the Lion King the 2nd week in January!  I've been wanting to see this broadway show for years (it's the NY company) and it will finally be coming to Raleigh, NC after the holidays, so we are going and will make another night of it -- all dressed up for dinner and the show!  Yippiee ... I get to wear those pretty little shoes again!

It's all about the BLING for me!  Thanks for peeking!

The Shabby Tea Room #41!

Good morning friends and welcome to the 41st challenge at The Shabby Tea Room!  Clare is our host this week and she has provided this photo for inspiration ...

... and asked us all to create a card or project using something from the pic!  I was immediately drawn to the silver, metal punched heart ornament and the snowflakes for my inspiration!

Lots of shiny-ness and sparkle here!!  I'm in love with the silver glass glittered snowflake, the silver rhinestone and pearl flourish and the silver tinsel -- yum!

Digital Delights by Loubyloo is the sponsor in the Tea Room this week and will provide this $10 gift certificate to one lucky winner!  Get busy creating for your chance to win :)

The Hybrid Chick - Vintage Holiday Ornaments!

Hello everyone and welcome to my little bloggity blog today!  I'm so happy you popped by for a visit ... I have some very pretty little handmade vintage ornaments to share with you all today :)

I made these sweet vintage treasures with found objects from the treasure baskets in my craft room along with some wonderful digital papers, embellishments, cut files and a template from The Digichick Shop!

You can find a complete step-by-step tutorial on how to make these little lovelies posted over at The Hybrid Chick today!  They look very fussy and fancy, but they were very quick and easy peesy to assemble!  Hop on over to THC for details and leave me a comment letting me know what you think!

I am giving these away to the girls I stamp with here in my neighborhood today at our card class!  We've had so much fun stamping together at our monthly classes this year, and I wanted a special way to thank them for all their creativity and inspiration during 2010!  Barb, Beth and Susan ... ENJOY :)

Have a wonderful, stampy day :)

The 12 Days of Christmas ... Day 11!

Welcome all to the 11th day on my holiday home tour!  I hope you're all staying warm and dry ... we had a nasty ice storm over night and into today, so I've stayed inside today all warm and snuggly and checked a bunch of things off of my 'to do' list!  Love days like today!

These shabby his and hers holiday stockings are hung on an antique cabinet in my bedroom ... just waiting for santa to fill them with goodies!!

And here are a few more of my treasured Boyd's Bears holiday decorations ...

... they are so sweet and adorable!

Thanks for popping in today for a peek!  Be sure to come back tomorrow for the grand finale!
