Summer simple treasures!

Hello friends and welcome back to my blog! I haven't posted anything here in quite a while, but have missed sharing fun things with y'all just for fun!  All work and no play makes me cranky, so I've decided to revive my pretty little blog and will once again be sharing inspiration and ideas here to help spark your creativity and fill your world with pretty and delicious things that make you smile!

This is my absolute favorite time of the year ... SUMMER time!  Just mentioning the word 'summer' conjures up visions in my head of backyard BBQ's, fun in the sun, leisurely afternoons spent rocking on the porch with a good book, lake/pool/beach time, family, gardening and all the beautiful colors the world offers during the warm and sunny months of the year!

To me, there is nothing more inviting than a beautiful porch, decorated with warm and welcoming, comfortable furniture, rockers, throw pillows, rugs and fresh flowers!  Who wouldn't want to sit a while in a rocking chair on a cozy porch sipping sweet tea or lemonade?

I love to spend time on a beautifully decorated porch filled with comfy furniture and decorations surrounded by a lovely garden filled with hydrangeas and outlined by a gorgeous iron or white picket fence - my dream place to be!

I think I've talked myself into sitting for a spell out on my porch this afternoon ... and a must have is a ice cold mason jar glass filled with fresh squeezed lemonade, don't you agree?  Homemade lemonade is SO easy to make and so delicious (much better than a mix)!  Here's my simple recipe for you to try:

1 3/4 cups white sugar
8 cups water
1 1/2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup water.  Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve sugar.  Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.  Squeeze about a dozen or so lemons until you have 1 1/2 cups of juice, strain seeds but leave pulp.  In pitcher, stir together chilled simple syrup, lemon juice and remaining 7 cups of water.

Let me know how your fresh squeezed lemonade turns out ... and I'd love to hear what your favorite summertime activity is as well!  Feel free to share my ideas, recipes and inspiration with your blog friends and invite them to follow me here!  Thanks for stopping by today ... take some time to enjoy the simple things in life - xoxo

So happy to see you back, Debbie! I wish I could be in those photos! I see in the upper corner of your blog page that your house is for sale. Will you still have a porch when you move?

So glad that you are back to blogging. I love your blog. I cannot believe you are selling that GORGEOUS home of yours! But I understand, planned to sell when I retired because my house would be way to large for me. But my son eldest son and his two daughters moved in with me two years ago. One graduates HS next year and will be off to college. And we have 7 more years of middle school and high school to get through with the younger one, so I may be here awhile longer than planned.

I love big porches, we have a semi big porch, not as big as in your pictures but nice enough to have a bench and flower pots hanging from the rails :) I have never made my own lemonade. My favorite thing is going to the beach and listening to the water splash up onto the shore :)
