The Pink Elephant #82!

WOW ... an exciting day -- today is my very FIRST Design Team project on behalf of the fabby The Pink Elephant Challenge Blog!!!!!!!!  Our theme this week at TPE is 'Mainly White' ... we are to create a project using mainly white - easy peesy, right?!?!?  And our wonderful sponsor is Meljen's Designs who has provided the DT with the most adorable digi images to design with this week!

When I received this image to work with, I immediately thought birthday cupcake!  I colored the mouse and cupcake liner in with soft beige Stampin' Pastels and then had fun with my bucket of glitter -- adding glitter to all the icing and sweet white pearls around the top of the cupcake liner!  I had some white glitter alpha stickers in my stash, used MFT's new border die and added some white satin ribbon threaded through the middle and finished it all off with some white Presto Prints DSP from SU!.

Wha-la ... what do you all think?  Please hop on over to TPE challenge blog to be inspired by my DT sista's amazing work -- they are a talented bunch of ladies and I'm delighted to be in the company of such wonderful girlies.  Lori and the girls gave me such a warm welcome ... if you haven't checked out their weekly challenges yet, this is a 'must do'!!!!!

Thanks for peeking ... I cannot wait to see your 'mainly white' designs :)

Card Style CONTEST Giveaway!

Those of you who follow my little bloggity blog know that I had the distinct honor of winning the Card Style - Shabby Chic Design Challenge sponsored by Moxie Fab World a few weeks ago!  My prize was a delicious copy of the latest issue of Card Style Magazine!  Since I already subscribe, I had received a copy ... so now I have two and want to share one with YOU!

Are you up for a challenge?  If you answered yes, then GOOD!

Using this gorgeous vintage kitchen photo as inspiration (I picked it because the colors in the photo match the colors on the cover of the Card Style Magazine!), please create a card that incorporates the colors in the photo and/or the theme ... OR BOTH!

I'll be looking for that one card design that jumps off the page at me ... uses bright red, sunny yellow, vintage green and aqua, black, silver and/or creme ... has a vintage and/or retro 1950's kitchen-inspired theme ... and just overall 'wow's me with it's design and presence!

This challenge will run for one week.  The winner will be announced here next Wednesday.  Good luck to all who participate!

A Star is Born ...

Well, this is my final week as a Guest Designer for the Crafty Creations Challenge Blog ... it has gone by quickly and has been so much fun!  Since the name of this blog is 'Crafty Creations', I decided to not make a traditional card this week.  Instead I had fun with a shape and created a little hanging decoration -- although there is blank space on the back of my design for writing in any sentiment for when the time comes to give this little treasure away!  The CC challenge calls for 3 patterned papers, 2 ribbons and 1 charm - FUN!

I am just in {love} with the soft and fall-inspired color pallete for this design!  I first cut out a star shape from a piece of cardboard and then traced that onto some cork I recently got from MFT.  Then I adhered the two pieces together with spray adhesive for stablization of the project since I knew I was going to shabby it up with lots of lovelies!

I inked all the edges to give it a shabby, soft and vintage look and then stamped a bingo card image into the center of the cork star.  I also stamped a fleur-de-lis image at the top of the star, added glitter and a pearl.

Next came the fun step of adding embellishments (yummy) ... so this little sweetie plays along with many current challenges out in blog land today ... including the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger photo inspiration!

Then I set about to decorate the front of the star by adding a pennant banner that I stamped on mustard DSP with different colored markers and then cut it out, inked the edges and adhered it to the star over some hemp cording with buttons finishing off the ends.

The delicious embellishment in the center of the design is a scrumpled flower I die cut with my Big Shot, distressed and inked the edges and added a bermuda button and twine.  Some more Prima leaves, old book print paper, metal charm, lace, trinket pin with buttons and pearls and Vintage Winter White Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my Etsy shop finished off this shabby little treatment.

A 'hand crafted' tag stamped and added to one of the buttons and some more hemp cording for the hanger and wha-la ... this fun little creation is complete!  It's really out of the ordinarly and not my 'usual' card style that I make most often, but it was really different and totally fun to create.

This is so shabby and vintage IRL ... I {heart} it a lot!  Thanks for peeking!

Truly Scrumptious #39!

For our next challenge at the Truly Scrumptious Challenge Blog we have a neat little sketch and the optional theme of brads, buttons and bows!

I just won a couple of a-dorable Lollipop images from Lori Boyd at  The Pink Elephant yesterday, so I decided to use Landon on my DT project this week!  I turned the sketch sideways and made two cards -- one for each of my sons who are away at college ...

For 'Brandon Michael' - a sophomore at NC State University (look close to find his earring!):

For 'Justin Matthew' - a freshman at Campbell University:

Don't you think my college-aged sons will simply {love} these??!!??!!??!!  Oh well, mom had fun making them and I hope you're enjoying peeking at them.  If they don't display them on their desks at school (which I am SURE they will NOT!), then they can use them as bookmarks!

I used JustRite's Curlz Monogram Stamper Kit 1 5/8" Harmony Classic Circle Stamper I for the monograms of the boys' initials!

Challenges for these cards:

Truly Scrumptious #39 - sketch and optional buttons, brads & bows
Our Creative Corner - back to school
Claudia & Company #3 - sketch and digi images (turned sideways)
Stampin' Royalty #33 - School Days
My Favorite Things WSC - Hit the Books

Crafty Creations #81 - Butterflies!

Week #81 at Crafty Creations brings us the theme of 'Butterflies'!  I have the honor of being a Guest Designer at CC for the month of August!

This is a sweet card that I made with one of my stamping club groups Monday evening.  It uses SU!'s new Noteably Ornate stamp set, Blossom Party BS die, Newsprint DSP and Blushing Bride, Espresso and Certainly Celery CS's along with polka dot embossing folder, large chocolate brad, rhinestone jewels and hemp cording!  The rhinestoned butterfly is from Jenni Bowlin and the Celery twill is retired from SU!

Challenges for this card:

Crafty Creations #81 - butterflies
Stamptacular Sunday #72 - buttons & bows
Cuttlebug Spot - sympathy or thinking of you w/ embossing
The Pink Elephant #80 - ribbon and sparkle
Create for Cards - handmade flowers

The Pink Elephant Winner!

WOW ... how cool!  TWO of my card designs were chosen for winner spots at The Pink Elephant #78 -

I can't wait to receive some 'Lollipop' digi designs to play with :)

And ... I was also chosen as a winner for TPE #74 for THIS card ... and also as a winner for TPE #72 for THIS card!  WOW ... thanks Lori!!!

I hadn't been paying attention to the winner announcements and didn't realize that Lori added a seperate Challenge Winner button to her blog.  If you follow TPE, it's on the top left side of the blog and lists out all the weekly challenge winners nice and organized - love it!!

Picture Perfect Creations #26!

This week, Megan has chosen a really crisp, clean and simply color scheme for us to play with over at the Picture Perfect Creations Challenge Blog!

I was inspired to create a CAS card this week for our CAS color scheme!  No shabby or vintage found here on this week's inspiration design from me, although I DID antique the edges by inking and spritzed the entire card when done with a Soft Suede marker and spritzer!

Now your turn ... hop on over to PPC to be inspired by the other design team girls' projects this week and then create a card of your own!  I cannot wait to see what you come up with for this CAS color scheme!

Challenges for this card:

Create for Cards - handmade flowers
Cute Card Thursday - leaves or trees
Simon Says Stamp - summer time BLUES
Papertake Weekly - something old, new, borrowed or blue

The Shabby Tea Room #23!

I've been waiting so very patiently for this week to roll around in the Tea Room ever since Lisa set the theme!  When I saw Lisa's inspiration photo, I almost fell off my chair!  Isn't this the most scrumptious bedroom setting you've ever seen?  What I wouldn't give to wake up each morning in such vintage and shabby loveliness!!  Pure heaven!!

I collect tea sets, I have white shabby furniture in my bedroom and stamping room, I {heart} roses, ruffles, antiques, handmade quilts and pink!  This picture is so 'me'!!!  Lisa's theme this week is called 'The Delicate Cottage Rose' and she is asking us to create a card or project inspired by this photo - using the colors, theme and/or roses -- I used everything in my design ...

Our sponsor this week in the Tea Room is Squigglefly and they graciously provided the DT some yummy images to work with.  I choose the dress form image as it relates perfectly to the inspiration photo!  I decided to paper piece the little dress on the image with some Girls' Paperie DSP, wrapped a wide taffeta sash around the waist and topped it off with a Prima flower and pearls around the neck.

Squigglefly Digital Stamps

The dress maker DSP is October Afternoon, chipboard letters from K and Co., die cut from Spellbinders, vintage lace from Wrights, sentiment stamp from Unity.

Now your turn ... have a peek at what the other Shabby Girls designed for inspiration this week and then give this challenge a try!  I can't wait to see what you come up with for the 'Delicate Cottage Rose' theme!

ATC's ...

Busy here getting design team projects done to meet deadlines for Monday ... and packing both of my sons up to move them off to college this weekend!  Where has the time gone -- it seems as though I only had them two years ago and now Monday morning I find myself an 'empty nester' ... **sigh**!

My monthly club girlies and I decided to give our hands a try this month at ATC's (Artist Trading Cards).  I've never made one before, but recently found a tutorial on one of the blogs I follow, and they looked fun and easy, so we decided to give them a try!

Well, they were FUN and oh so EASY!  Mine took on a sweet shabby feel with the addition of some vintage lace trim, organza flowers and a glittered butterfly that I first spritzed with Vintage Pink Glimmer Mist ...

Isn't that stamp set wonderful?  It's a recent treasure that I added to my collection after attending a stamp trunk sale my friend, Amy, hosted ... Suzi's 'trash' is Debbie's 'treasure'!!!  I absolutely love the images of the sheet music, postage mark and that sweet, chubby little bird!  I used some of my 'beloved' Blush Blossom CS on these sweeties - yum!

I'll come back next week after my clubs to share the other ATC's I collect this week with you :)

Challenges for these ATC's:

The Shabby Tea Room #22 - Reflections (creme, brown and glitter)
