JUGS #44!

Well, time has flown and here it is, my fifth and final Guest Design for the girlies over at the Just Us Girls Challenge Blog!  Week #44 brings us the theme of 'Wedding' ... and here is my take:

My love of everything shabby and vintage really came out in this design with it's soft, pale color palette, vintage trims, pearls, satin ribbons and flowers, trinket pin, chipboard and glitter!  It was a fun one to make!

I've enjoyed the past five weeks as a Guest Designer with the JUGS gals!  I appreciate the opportunity they gave me to share a few snippets of my shabby and vintage styled work with you and ... last but certainly not least, I've really enjoyed all the lovely comments you all sent my way!  You've all touched my heart more than words can say!

See you over at JUGS and I can't wait to see what you design for this 'wedding' themed challenge :)

Go Fly a Kite ...

On our recent family vacation to the beach, one of my favorite things to watch people do on the beach during the day was flying kites ... and in the evening was setting off fireworks -- the 'good kind', really exquisite ones -- not the rinky dinky ones that are allowed in NC, but the 'cat daddy' ones that they allow in SC!!!!!

The current challenge at Cards is to make a card with 'kites' as the theme, so here is my take ...

Sweet Stampin' #36!

Oh my shabby goodness ... today brings us to challenge #37 over at the Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog and it's one right up my alley -- VINTAGE!!!

My friend, Amy, just told me this week that she is expecting her very first baby!  It's a big month for her as she also turns 40 this month!!  This baby news is extra {sweet} since my friend has been going through a couple of years of fertility treatments.  She was on her very last treatment and was going to 'give up' if it was unsuccessful again this time ... but it worked and she is expecting a sweet little bundle of joy!  I can remember a little more than two years ago sitting at The California Pizza Kitchen with her having dinner and her sharing her intent to begin treatments.  Her perservance paid off and I can't wait to see her precious miracle next February :)

So, onto my card for this week's challenge ...

I found this precious vintage image of a baby in a buggy and when I read the sentiment ... 'The sweetest story ever told' ... I just knew this was the perfect card to give to my friend!  Lots of delicious vintage yumminess on my card this week, including some 'Lacey Blueberry' Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my Etsy Shop and a sweet metal charm that reads 'made with love'!

Perfect, don't you think???

A Fond Farewell ...

It is with great sadness that I say goodbye to the KL Stampin' and Scrappin' Challenge Blog :(  Today is the final day for both the challenge blog and the shop.  I've spent 11 fun weeks with Kelly and the girls and the challenges have been both fun and inspirational!  It was wonderful to see all of your creations that you made and submitted too!

Please take a moment and visit the KLSNS Challenge Blog today and leave Kelly a sweet little comment.  I know she is very sad today about ending this fun venture!  I really appreciate Kelly having the faith in my little ol' paper crafted designs to choose me as a member of her fun little design team.  I enjoyed getting to know the other DT girlies through creating and blogging with them!

There is still time left today - before midnight EST to submit a design for this week's #39 ribbon challenge!

It's been very fun!  Hugs to you all :)

More exciting DT news ...

Good morning to all of my bloggity blog friends all across the world!!  I have a bit of news to share with you all today ... I've been choosen to become a Truly Scrumptious Girl!!  I received the exciting news yesterday morning and couldn't wait to share -- it's a good thing that today is the day I could announce because I would have burst from excitement!

As you know, I love vintage and love to make my cards and projects really 'scrumptious' - piling them high with lots of yummy embellies ... my favorite thing in the world!!  Looks like another match made in heaven, don't you think?  I can't wait to get going and share some of my little ol' creations with you all over at the TS Challenge Blog :)

Life has certainly been very kind to me this year with my little paper crafting 'hobby'!  When I was frustrated and just about to give up on ever having the privilege of being picked for a design team after one year of applying, my luck turned and I've had such a multitude of good fortune this year to have been noticed and chosen to design for, in my humble opinion, some of the very best blogs out there!!  I can't thank the DT coordinators that I am involved with enough for allowing me the ability to expand my horizons and share my passion for paper crafting with so many wonderful people all across the world!

I love this quote (forgive me, but I don't know the author) and feel that it is appropriate today to share with you all:

"With courage greater than your fear, jump into the unknown and you will fly!"

Lastly, but certainly not least ... I must thank all of YOU!  Your absolutely sweet comments mean the world to me!  It warms my heart to read that I'm not the only one out there that loves vintage and shabby designs!  I love seeing your work that you submit for the teams that I am on and try to leave as many sweet comments to you all as my schedule allows.  I really appreciate all of your comments ... especially on those days when I might be in a bit of a slump!  All I have to do it hop onto my bloggity blogs and read what you've left for me each day and all of those little blurbs really put that smile right back on my face!

In three short weeks, my hubby of almost 24 years and I will find ourselves 'empty nesters' - moving both of our sons into their college dorms for school mid-August.  I'll be devoting the majority of my time weekly to  paper crafting and blogging to fill the hours, so I look forward to sharing that time with all of YOU!!!

Happy Stamping!!!

New Vintage Challenge Blog coming soon!!!

The sweet gals over at Simon Says Stamp are starting up a brand new challenge blog that will be mainly focused around all things VINTAGE ... oh my shabby goodness ... YUM :)

Those of you who know me well, know that I simply adore adding a vintage charm and shabby spin onto my card designs.  I don't feel like a card is 'done' until it is piled high with lots of scrumptious eye candy and love!!

My love of vintage is not anything new ... I've loved antique things from as long as I can remember and even built a pink antique reproduction Victorian painted lady home to live in nearly six years ago.  The rooms in my home are filled with treasured antiques - some family heirlooms and some precious finds from antique shows!

When I wasn't really seeing very much vintage loveliness out in blog land around the holidays of 2009, I made my mind up that I would start my very own weekly challenge blog mainly focused around vintage and shabby designs!  I was able to set everything in place and launch The Shabby Tea Room in March of 2010 and have the most AMAZING and TALENTED design team around!!

I'm going to post here just a couple of my favorite designs for consideration ...

I hope you've enjoyed peeking at some of my favorite things :)

Have a wonderful stampy day!!

Picture Perfect Creations #22!

Well, the start of another week brings another fun color combo challenge from Megan at the Picture Perfect Creations Challenge Blog!

I'm so happy that Rich Razzleberry has been made a permanent color from Stampin' Up! -- I just love it :)  I used some of the brand new SU! wide grosgrain striped ribbon on my design, Elements of Style and Cute by the Inch stamp sets, new large petal punch to make the tiny envelope, new pearl embellishments and a trinket pin from Maya Road and snippet of vintage trim.

A pretty CAS design {for me} ... but with just enough of vintage elements to give it my own personal design touch!

Hop on over to PPC to be inspired by what my design team sisters have created this week and then give this color combo challenge a try!

Isn't it just scrumptious?  Boy, what I wouldn't give to have that hanging on my front door!!

I'm very pleased to welcome our very first Digi Image Sponsor in the Tea Room this week - Sweet n' Sassy Stamps!

I choose Leah's 'Welcome Precious Baby' digi image to work with as I could see right away that the trees and adorable hanging baby clothes would lend themselves well this week with the colors provided in the inspiration photo.

It was a fun image to work with and I enjoyed putting my usual little vintage spin on the design by using some 'Mint Green Tea' Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my Etsy Shop

We also have another birthday to celebrate this week --  Maria is celebrating her birthday, so please stop by the JUGS site and leave her a little love!!  The JUGS girlies got together and thought it might be nice to make our color challenge cards birthday cards TOO -- here's my take ...

How precious is that sweet little PI girlie having her little birthday party with a cup of tea and a sweet 'sugared' cupcake?!  Lots of fun paper piecing here from the tablecloth and dress, to the adorable pennant banner - each little banner is three separate parts.  I tied the banner up with some 'Primrose Cookie Dough' Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my Etsy Shop!

Now your turn ... hop on over to the JUGS blog to see the inspiration photo Maria chose for us to work from this week and then give this fun color challenge a try!  I can't wait to see your creations:)

KL Stampin' N' Scrappin' #39!

This week over at the KL Stampin' N' Scrappin' Challenge Blog our assignment is to create a card or project using RIBBON!  I loooooooooove using ribbon on my paper crafted projects ... I have baskets and bins of it in my stamp room - I am addicted to ribbon, and especially Shabby Vintage Seam Binding ribbon which I used on my project here ...

This is the 'Strawberry Shortcake' Shabby Vintage Seam Binding from my Etsy Shop!

Supplies I used from the KL Stampin' N' Scrappin' on-line shop:  CC Designs - August stamp; Prima Yellow Mini Roses; Basic Grey Lemonade patterened paper; Rhonna Christmas buttons.

Hop on over for some yummy inspiration from my fellow design team sisters and then give this 'Ribbon' challenge a try for yourself :)

Been Busy ...

I don't want you to think I've abandoned my bloggity blog ... I've been busily preparing design samples for teams I'm on that will go live Saturday and Monday, so stay tuned for some inspiration coming sooooon!!

In the meantime, I thought I'd share a few pics from our trip to the beach this past week!  The highlight of our vacation was the day we rented jet skis and cruised down the intercoastal waterway into the Atlantic Ocean.  The tour we booked was a dolphin watch and we must have seen 30 dolphins while out on the water ... they were so close to our jet skis I could almost reach out and touch them!  It was truely magnificant and the experience of a lifetime!

My two sons (18 and 19) enjoyed riding in the ocean soooo much ... they were having contests to see who could drive the fastest and who could jump the highest!!

See the dolphin fin in the background???!!!

And we brought my 20-year-old nephew with us on vacation this time ...

They were being goofy while we were waiting to get into the IMAX theater!!

It was a wonderful vaction ... went by much too quickly!!
