I’m sending the July Club Challenge out early before we’ve had a chance to complete the June Stamping Clubs, but I wanted to give you all a chance to get busy on this if you’re interested in participating. This is a GREAT way to clean out those drawers and closets and get rid of some cards you may already have on hand to make room for new ones!!
Instead of doing one of our traditional swaps or challenges in July, I’ve decided on something different next month. There is an organization called ‘Cards For Heroes’. They collect handmade cards and ship them overseas to troops so the troops then can mail them back to loved ones. Their website is www.cardsforheroes.org . So for July, I will be collecting as many cards as I can to send to CFH. The person who comes to July clubs with the most number of cards will win a prize! Some tips, in case you don't get a chance to look at their website:
~No envelopes needed
~Any size card, but preferably A2 (5 1/2 x 4 1/4)
~NO GLITTER - the glitter can get on the troops' cammo, and can adversely affect their night missions
~All holidays and occasions accepted
~They are in great need of kids' birthday and miss you, as well as masculine cards
~You can make several of the same card/design or they all can be different
~Leave the inside blank
~ The military pays postage for the troops
I am interested in supporting this organization because my brother-in-law, a Sarasota, FL Police Officer, is an ex-Marine of 20 years and fought in the Dessert Storm War in Iraq. What better way to help out troops then by doing what we love to do - STAMP!
