2009 Mini Calendars as gifts!

What to do on a cold, rainy day ... make 30 sets of mini calendars for gifts!!! Yes, my friends, that's 360 pages of stamped images for all 12 months - wow, my arms are aching but oh what fun I had! I completed all these sets over the course of a 24 hour period and they came out darling! I purchased clear acrylic covers with a magnet on the back to slip each page in for the appropriate month and they can hang on a refrigerator or desk. These will be gifts for my Tastefully Simple first line team members ... what do you think??? They were fun to make, but I'm sure glad they are done! Onto the next project ...

Christmas Countdown - something unexpected!

I just LOVE the holidays ... and especially CHRISTMAS! It's my favorite time of the year and I begin to get in the holiday mood early in November! I've already begun decorating my home. I put up 8 decorated trees, and my husband has already hung the lights on the outside of the house! Our family tradition is to 'flip the switch' Thanksgiving night and light it all up -- the official start to the Christmas season in our home! And, when I get a jump on all the holiday decorating in November, I am able to enjoy the month of December to bake, stamp, gather with friends, stamp, wrap presents, stamp, enjoy a hot & steamy mug of English Toffee Mocha while sitting by the fire ... AND STAMP!

With that said, I think this is such a unique idea - especially if you don't want to put something on your wall and then have to take it down after the holidays and destroy it. I used the small 'Christmas Countdown' from the Decor Elements line and adhered it onto a pretty vanilla colored stoneware oval platter found at Home Goods (my FAVORITE store in the world!). I embellished with some red Little Felt Flurries snowflakes, red & white ticking grosgrain ribbon, rhinestone brads and glitter. For the individual numbered cards, I used Naturals Ivory Card Stock to mount the numbers on, and then backed each card with Real Red and Old Olive Card Stock. I decorated each number with a little piece of 'bling' and then attached the number card to the platter with a mini library clip ... whala! My plan is to string some more of that pretty ticking ribbon from end to end on a bank of 3 windows I have in my kitchen, and then each day pull the appropriate numbered card off the string and put it on the plate. I can re-use this holiday decoration for years to come. What do you think???

Cutest Chipboard Ornament!

This little cutie was created by my friend, Amy Ward, and we made these tonight at our monthly club! I can see these all over a Christmas tree, mantle swag, on top of packages as gift tags or even wrapped in a celophane baggie and tagged as a gift itself. Very cute and very quick and easy using chipboard. I can see me making many of these in the immediate future and using them to decorate, share with friends and give as gifts. So AWESOME! How about making a Nana's Apple Cake, wrapping with holiday plastic and tying one of these on top as the tag ... GREAT teacher gift! Or, make a mini loaf for all of your neighbors and distribute them just a few days before the holiday. They'll be sure to think of you fondly while enjoying the yummy Nana's Apple Cake and have a cute ornament to hang on their tree for years to come. Guess this one will be my neighbor gift this year ... shhhh, don't tell them!!!

Get Well Soon For a Friend!

This is such a pretty card for my friend, Jeannie, who is in the hospital for an emergency apendectomy this past week. I hope it brings a smile to her face when she receives it in the mail! I used Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss & Tangerine Tango CS and ink along with the Hawaii Papaya (LOVE IT!!!) DSP and CC 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. The scallop edge punch adds a nice touch to the bottom of the card and I used one of the friend's verses from the God's Blessing set to stamp inside the card. The outside verse is from the For a Friend host set and I punched it out with the new, large oval punch. Get well soon, Jeannie!!
